Fast Grinder: The Only High-Speed Four-Spindle Grinding Machine

09.10.2026

In industrial glass processing, increasing productivity means optimizing the entire production process. Every stage must work in coordination with the others, preventing slowdowns that can create bottlenecks along the line.

Edge processing is an essential part of this balance. Operations such as seaming and rough edge grinding must ensure precision and quality while keeping pace with increasingly demanding production rates.

Forel FG Fast Grinder Machine for automated glass edge grinding in an industrial facility

This is the challenge behind Forel’s FG – Fast Grinder Machine, developed to make vertical edge processing faster and easier to integrate into an automated production workflow.

The FG is the first machine featuring two operating heads and four spindles that simultaneously perform two operations: flat edge grinding and seaming. This enables high-speed rough edge grinding in a single cycle, on both rectangular and shaped glass.

Seaming and Rough Edge Grinding: Two Operations, One Cycle

Edge processing is an important stage in preparing glass sheets. Seaming removes sharp edges and imperfections, while rough edge grinding processes the glass edge to achieve a uniform surface with a matte finish.

Traditionally, these operations may require separate processing steps. The Fast Grinder, however, is designed to perform seaming and rough edge grinding in a single cycle, significantly reducing processing times.

The goal is to combine speed and precision while maintaining consistent quality, even in high-volume production environments.

Speed as Part of the Production Process

A fast machine alone does not necessarily make an entire production line faster. To truly increase productivity, the different processing stages must operate in a coordinated manner.

This is the principle behind the Fast Grinder. The machine can be integrated directly into Forel’s insulating glass production lines, incorporating edge processing into the automated production flow.

This eliminates separate processing steps and intermediate handling operations, reducing the risk of edge preparation becoming a bottleneck for subsequent stages.

A More Continuous Workflow for High-Volume Production

Combining two operations in a single cycle and integrating them directly into the production line helps address one of the most important requirements of industrial manufacturing: continuous production flow.

The operational advantage goes beyond reducing the time needed to process each glass sheet. It also means better coordination between production stages, fewer interruptions and greater capacity to handle high production volumes.

First unveiled at Vitrum 2025, the FG – Fast Grinder Machine represents a further development in Forel’s vertical edge processing range: a solution designed to combine speed, precision and seamless integration, making the entire production process more efficient.
